A HOT first day!

Yesterday was the girls first day of school and it was hot in more ways than one. The temperature got up near 100 (with Summer's middle school having no air conditioning I hear that was not pleasant!) and we had a huge fire on the mountains just east of our house. It has consumed more than 600 acres and threatened the houses along the foothills. A few of the girls friends were evacuated from their homes but luckily they were able to contain the fire. This morning it is still burning but mostly at the very top of the mountain. We had quite a view from our front porch, especially last night when you could see the flames in the dark.

Our first blog!

OK I'll do it Summer! Here it is, our first official Osborn Family blog. Here is an update on our family which consists of Andy (?), Shaunda (?), Amber (17), Summer (14), Drew (7) and our dog, Stanley. Summertime is winding down (2 days to school but who is counting!) and we have had a great one. We recently returned from a trip to San Diego. We went for our nephew's (Austin & Sara) wedding (which was so beautiful and fun!) and stayed for a few days in the sun.

We went to Petco Park and watched the Padres play. Not much of a game but we had a blast just being there and watching all the people and trying to catch a fly ball.

We spent 2 days at the beach (Coronado, and La Jolla). The kids had so much fun playing in the waves. Drew was having trouble learning the sand etiquette (plopping his sandy butt all over our towels, eating with sandy hands and wondering why his food was gritty, and shaking the sand off his towel right in our "neighbor's" face) but eventually figured it out. The weather was perfect and we had a nice relaxing time.

Our most exciting day was spent at Disneyland. We got there right when it opened and stayed until about 9 at night. It was Drew's first real experience at Disneyland (last time he was only 2 or 3) and he loved it. The lines weren't to bad and we were able to go on every ride we wanted. We felt like we had walked 50 miles after that day. In fact Drew stopped right in the middle of the parking garage where we were trying to find our car and said his legs couldn't take one more step. The kids were out before we left the parking lot.

So there you go Summer!! Hope you are happy now! JK it was fun. More to come...
